Lewis Hamilton: The truth about the Ferrari offer / Formula 1

Lewis Hamilton has extended his contract with Mercedes, but has been linked with Ferrari. Now the Brit is talking about the alleged offers from the Italians.

As long as Lewis Hamilton did not renew his contract with Mercedes, the alleged Ferrari offer was a popular ongoing rumour. The numbers around were very interesting. But Hamilton remains loyal to Mercedes.

He “didn’t think” about change all these years, he told Blick. So don’t think about moving to Ferrari either.

And the offers owed? Ever been one? “Never. Well, we’ve certainly had a few awkward conversations. I know a lot of good people there. But I never felt ready to move to Italy,” said Hamilton.

But he is ready to continue driving in Formula 1, even if he didn’t want to at the time. “I have to admit that I neglected my love for this sport. But it has been a love-hate story. There are days when I would rather not enter the cockpit,” admitted the 38-year-old.

In the end, the pleasure gets the better of him, says Hamilton. “The competition with my teammate George (Russell, editor’s note) also motivates me. You always have to be alert,” said the seven-time world champion.

He is sure that soon he will be able to celebrate another victory. The last one he got was in Saudi Arabia in 2021, almost two years ago. “We will come back. We can do it,” assured Hamilton: “The next stage of the podium will come. And it will probably be my biggest victory in my career.”
