(aum/mue) – In the past, Toyota hasn’t always been lucky when it comes to setting new trends. With the convertible version of the LC 500, executive producer Tadao Mori and his team prove that there is another way.
Equipped with fabric uppers, the double trapezoid of the front grille, the provocative edges at the back and the razor-sharp curves of the light lenses create a pleasing contrast with good proportions. The muscular wheel arches at the rear (with a track that is only five millimeters wide) give an idea of where the concentrated power of the rear wheel drive is acting.
With 464 hp, the Beau has a slightly thinner motor than the first version of the LC 500 from 2017; 4,800 revolutions of the crankshaft are required to produce a maximum torque of 530 Newton meters. According to the manufacturer, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in less than five seconds and reaches a speed of 270 km / h.
Lexus promises that the top will open or close in 15 seconds. Our test car took it more comfortably, but less than 18 seconds to put the hood behind the seats and about 20 to close it again are not bad values either.
