Long Island Teacher Accused of Making Racist Remarks, ‘Bullied’ Student – NBC New York

A Long Island teacher has been accused of making racially charged comments to a student while also allegedly “bullying” the minor, according to NBC New York.

The teacher, who has not been publicly identified, is employed by the Wyandanch Union Free School District and is under investigation by the district for allegedly making offensive remarks to a student. The student’s family has said the teacher “bullied” the child, who is African American.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 30th when the teacher allegedly told the student, “I don’t want to hear about your black problems.” The student’s family claims the teacher also made other racist comments, such as calling the student an “ignorant n—–” and telling the student that he would never amount to anything.

The student’s family has filed a complaint with the school district, and the district has launched an investigation into the incident. In a statement, the district said it was taking the allegations “seriously” and that it “will not tolerate any form of discrimination or bullying in our schools.”

The school district has declined to comment further on the incident, citing the ongoing investigation. It is unclear if the teacher has been suspended or disciplined in any way.

The allegations of racism and bullying have sparked outrage among Long Island residents and civil rights activists, who are calling for the teacher to be fired and for the district to take action against any other staff members who may have been involved in the incident.

“No student should ever have to endure such racism and bullying from a teacher or any other staff member,” said a spokesperson for the Long Island NAACP. “We urge the district to take swift and decisive action to ensure that this teacher is removed from the classroom, and that any other staff members who may have been involved are held accountable.”
