TECHNO-CLASSICA 2024: Automotive passion for all generations at the Essen showrooms

The 34th edition of the TECHNO-CLASSICA ESSEN 2024 turned the Ruhr capital into an international classic car destination and the classic capital of the world for five days. Visitors were able to admire more than 2,700 collector and collector cars on display in eight showrooms and two outdoor areas – with the highlight being 120 years of Rolls Royce.

For opening:
A special exhibition celebrated 120 years British royal brand Rolls Royce special to the SIHA booth in Hall 5, where “Techno-Classica 2024” was held in front of Minister of Finance Christian Lindner was also opened.
About the cover photo: The Rolls-Royce shown is the car that was last owned by the Dutch royal family and was used, among other things, for the wedding ceremony of the reigning royal family. Royal couple Máxima and Willem-Alexander it was used in 2002. Today it is privately owned and can be rented for special events.
Techno-Classica celebrated the best English brand with a special big show organized by organizer SIHA.

50 years of the VW Golf
This year the VW Golf celebrates its 50th anniversary. The success story on four wheels was honored with a special exhibition in Hall 4. The highlight was a Golf 1 LS from 1974who traveled more than 30,000 kilometers in a tour from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.
When you think of VW with great achievements, you first think of the Beetle – but the Golf, its successor, achieved a lot: a modern liquid-cooled cylinder replaced the air-cooled rear box, instead with a well-rounded, slim design of a light and wide body designed by Giugiaro in Italy. It offered a large tailgate for ease of use and a modern four-door option.
Golf worked from day one – The Golf drove confidently, gave a lot and could do almost anything – although it could also rust.

50 years of the Porsche Turbo
There was one to see in Hall 3 Porsche 911 Turbo for the next one. The special show presented several examples from the long history of the classic sports car.
The goal was clear: Porsche had decided to make the successful 911 model hotter in the early 1970s – turbocharging was supposed to extract more power from the air-cooled boxer engine. But this fast Porsche was not a car for everyone, not least because of the high purchase price. But also because the turbo showed no mercy – as soon as the charger increased enough pressure, the sports car changed the rocket state.
For the 50th birthday, SIHA created a special special exhibition with the specialist Wuppertal Early 9115.

Best of the Show is the Maserati 5000 from 1962
An international jury of 14 people led by the Dutchman Maikel de Munnik chose the best car in the world from more than 150 participants of the Concours d’ Élégance – a responsible task: a Maserati 5000 fully restored by a special group of Pininfarina, in 1962 without the emblem of the boss Maserati Fiat. Gianni Agnelli, presented to expert Axel Schütte in Hall 1, was named “Best Show 2024” by experts and journalists.

200 classic car clubs on the site
More than 200 classic car clubs and brands showed up and offered their services at lovingly designed stands – often with stage-ready new displays from automotive history.
He won for the first time and “Münch-Freunde NRW IG” The motorcycle club won the Club Grand Prix 2024 title because 77 club athletes recreated the Münch Mammut Sahara Cross as the world’s heaviest sand motorcycle. Second place went to the “Fusselforum” car graveyard in front of the Fiat 600 friends’ “organ donation”.

The tranquility of the classic car scene
The 34th TEKNO-CLASSICA showed that the number of visitors remained stable with positive business from retailers. It was also positive that the average age of the guests over the weekend was under 50 – young couples and families, friends and colleagues walked the halls with great interest.
