New Acura Driver Stranded After Refusing to Pay for Extra Spare Tire

A TikTok user has gone viral after sharing an awkward moment while driving his new Acura.

According to TikTok user Joshua (@jjellett), he bought his Acura less than six months ago for around $20,000. Since adding a spare tire was an additional $500 fee, he decided not to pay, telling himself that he would “deal with it another time.”

However, he recently suffered a flat tire, leaving him in a bit of a quandary—and even though he had roadside assistance as part of his warranty, he found that at first it wasn’t as helpful as he’d hoped.

“I call these relatives. They’re like, ‘Oh, hey, where are you?’ I’m on the side of South State Road. ‘Oh, yes, that’s, that’s an unserved area. You’re going to have to call this number and you know, you can submit the bill to us and we can pay you,’” he recalls of the conversation.

When he called another number that the service providers gave him, he found out it was for the state police. Fortunately, the state police informed him that the area did, in fact, have services, which he quickly related to his sponsors.

That meant Joshua could finally get a tow or a spare tire—but there was another catch.

“It’s a f***ing two-hour wait for a truck,” he says, and later adds, “So now I’m going to sit in this f***ing car on the side of the road listening to the other cars go by me for the next hour and 40 minutes.” .”

In the comments section, users questioned how a situation like this could happen in the first place.

“20k for a car and no spares which is crazy,” wrote the user.

“It still amazes me that people drive without donuts,” another added.

“Junkyard spare tires are like $30,” said a third.

Others suggested Joshua should just invest run flat tires. These are tires that allow drivers to continue driving safely for a short distance after a puncture, allowing them to change the tire in a safe area.
