Congresswoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., has come out in strong support of Wyoming’s digital asset industries, vowing to do whatever she can to ensure the Cowboy State remains a leader in the sector.
In a recent statement, Rep. Cheney declared that she was “encouraged by the progress Wyoming has made in developing a regulatory framework to support the innovative blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital asset industries.”
The congresswoman further noted she was “proud to support Wyoming’s efforts to become a leader in these areas and will do whatever I can to ensure Wyoming remains a leader in the sector.”
Rep. Cheney’s remarks follow Wyoming State Rep. Tara Lummis’s introduction of a bill that would establish a framework for digital asset businesses operating in the state. If passed, the bill would make Wyoming the first state to have a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital asset companies.
In introducing the bill, Rep. Lummis stated that “Wyoming has long been a leader in the field of financial technology, and this new bill will ensure that we remain at the forefront of the digital asset industry.”
The bill seeks to create a safe and secure environment for digital asset businesses to operate in Wyoming, by establishing a regulatory framework that provides clarity for both businesses and consumers.
The bill would also create a new “Blockchain Task Force” to monitor the sector and provide guidance to ensure that Wyoming’s digital asset industry remains on the cutting edge.
Rep. Lummis’s bill has drawn support from both sides of the aisle, with Rep. Cheney joining a growing number of legislators in the state who are rallying behind the bill.
The congresswoman’s strong support for Wyoming’s digital asset industries comes as no surprise, as she has long been an advocate of the sector.
In her statement, Rep. Cheney highlighted the importance of Wyoming’s digital asset industries, asserting that “the future of our state and our economy depends on our ability to support and grow these innovative technologies.”
By coming out in strong support of Wyoming’s digital asset industries, Rep. Cheney has drawn a clear battle line for the future of the sector in the Cowboy State.
