A Park City man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) after a crash that resulted in the death of one woman and severely injured another.
The Park City Police Department took the accused into custody following a single-vehicle collision early Sunday morning. The man is accused of recklessly operating a motor vehicle, resulting in the death of one woman and serious injury to another.
The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old local woman, while the injured party is a 25-year-old female from an outlying area.
According to the Park City Police Department, the suspect was operating his car at an excessive speed when it left the roadway, crashing into a guardrail. Upon impact, both women were ejected from the vehicle.
The deceased woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The suspect’s blood alcohol level was tested and found to be more than twice the legal limit. He has been charged with aggravated DWI and vehicular homicide, and is being held in custody pending a court hearing.
The Park City Police Department is continuing to investigate the collision and have urged any witnesses to come forward. As the authorities continue to probe the incident, they have emphasized the need for greater awareness of the dangers posed by driving while impaired.
