A Silver Spring pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run

Montgomery County detectives are searching for the driver of a white Acura allegedly involved in a hit-and-run collision that killed a Silver Spring man Friday night.

On Saturday, police identified Ronaldo Franzese, 52, as the victim of the incident that occurred around 10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Randolph Road and Kimblewick Drive in Silver Spring, according to a news release.

Officers with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded at 10:12 p.m. to a report of a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian and two vehicles near the intersection, police said in a statement.

According to police, the driver of a white 2023 Honda Odyssey was traveling westbound on Randolph Road when the van went up a curb for unknown reasons and struck Franzese, causing him to fall to the road.

Franzese was then struck by a white four-door Acura, police said. The driver of the Acura fled the scene without rendering assistance to Franzese. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not say whether the driver of the Honda Odyssey remained at the scene.

After the collision, the Acura was seen traveling north on New Hampshire Avenue and then west on Randolph Avenue, police said. The vehicle, which does not have a fender line, may be an Acura TL from model years 2009 through 2012 and may have additional front spoiler.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at crunit@montgomerycountymd.gov or 240-773-6620.
