Marcel Brenner competed in 48 races in the Supersport World Championship, and after Portimao in August 2024 it came to an abrupt end. The Swiss has since regrouped and is competing in IDM this year.
In 2021 and 2022 we saw Marcel Brenner on Yamaha in the Supersport World Championship, in his first year he impressed by finishing fifth in Barcelona. In 2023, the now 27-year-old raced in the World Endurance Championship and returned to the SBK scene in 2024.
Brenner became the successor of Adrian Huertas, eventually world champion, in the MTM Kawasaki team. But nothing worked for the Swiss: he managed to finish 13th in the season opener in Australia and the supposed main sponsor Viamo did not fulfill his obligations. It was in August, Brenner did not take part in the second race in Portimao after suffering from weakness and then withdrew from the world championship without comment.
Since then he has rethought his work and taken it in a new direction. «We are very happy to announce that Marcel Brenner will compete in IDM Supersport with the Motolife Racing Team. “We ride on the Ducati Panigale V2,” says team boss Andreasköder.
“With Ducati we certainly have the best brand as an emergency car and I’m looking forward to being able to reach the first few kilometers,” emphasized Brenner. “After unfortunately having to finish the World Cup early last season due to my illness, this year will be a rebuilding year for me. It’s about me feeling good and being able to enjoy myself again, especially with my favorite activity, riding motorcycles. Team MotoLife is very interesting for me and that’s why I will feel very comfortable there, which is the most important thing.”
köder is happy about the new addition to the team: “We are happy to welcome Marcel, a very good and established driver, to the MotoLife Championship. Marcel has shown his ability in the IDM and the World Championship. We’ve been following him since he joined IDM and Team Hess and we believe that given the right circumstances he can cause a few surprises. Last year we proved as a team what we can achieve when we have the confidence of the driver. Over the winter we developed new motorcycle components with our partner WRP and we are looking forward to the upcoming IDM season.”
WRP, the three letters stand for Wepol Racing Parts, is a company owned by Ludek Weag, who also has a team in the World Supersport Championship. This switched from Victory to Ducati for 2025 and was able to sign a top rider in Marcel Schrötter. His teammate who finished fifth in the World Cup last year is the Czech Ondrej Vostatek.
