Lexus UX, more power and technology injection for hybrid or electric crossover – Corriere.it

The UX 250h Premium Hybrid is replaced by the new UX 300h, with clear performance and comfort benefits. The Toyota product has also worked on the cockpit, making it more complete, and on the ADAS package

2024 is an important year for Lexus that features two new models such as the LBX compact SUV that brings the high-end Toyota brand ‘down’ to the B-segment field and the large LM car that pursues the luxury transport and rental and chauffeur sectors . . But the new season begins with a major overhaul of the UX, one of the best-selling models of the brand in Europe: the main line of Lexus cities received an update of the power train and other technological systems in 2024, aimed at further improving driving dynamics. which combines the versatility of a crossover with the driving pleasure of a hatchback. The UX is available in Premium Hybrid or Full Electric versions and, thanks to these choices, it plays an important role in the brand’s electronic strategy. The second is untouched, with its electric motor of 72.8 kWh and 450 kilometers of autonomy.

More power

The most important evolution is that the UX 250h Premium Hybrid is replaced by the new UX 300h. Like the UX 250h, the UX 300h is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with two electric motors, but the rear of the new e-Four all-wheel drive system is 5.6 times more powerful than its predecessor. Instead of the UX 250h’s introduction motor of 5.3 kW (7 horsepower) there is now a 30 kW (41 horsepower) permanent magnet motor. The new UX 300h also offers more power, equal to 146 kW (199 horsepower), an increase of 8% compared to the horsepower of the UX 250h. This increase is enabled by a fifth-generation hybrid system that replaces the original 216-volt 180-cell nickel-metal hydride battery with a more efficient 60-cell, 222-volt lithium-ion battery. As a result, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h has increased from 8.5 to 8.1 seconds in the front-wheel drive model and from 8.7 to 7.9 seconds in the all-wheel drive model.

Use less

Fuel consumption has also been improved, thanks to a better power train and reduced weight, to 4.7 – 5.0 l/100 km for the front-wheel drive model and 5.0 – 5.4 l/100 km 100 km for the all-wheel drive model. In the cockpit is now available – on request – a new 12.3-inch digital multi-information display that can be highly customized according to the selected driving mode. The 8-inch multimedia touchscreen has also been updated. Finally, two other features are added to the latest version of the Lexus Safety System +: Proactive Driving Assist which uses the vehicle’s front camera to identify hazards at low speeds in the city (usually cyclists) and Safe Departure Assist which helps prevent collisions between vehicles approaching from behind when the door is opened or occupants exit.
