The Maserati Gran Cabrio celebrates its world premiere on April 15

An Monday next week is Maserati Folgore Day in Rimini, the Maserati Gran Cabrio celebrates its world premiere. The luxury electric, four-seat convertible is scheduled to hit the market this summer. This means that Maserati offers something unique, as there are no other open electric cars, especially not in this class. The title of the first electric Maserati goes to the GT (Gran Turismo), a convertible coupe, which was introduced at the end of February. All electric Maseratis have the Folgore suffix to their names. It’s Italian for electricity, and that’s how they’re supposed to enter the market. Both sports cars are of course “only” battery-electric versions of the combustion engine model, but they were developed together; Outwardly, they are completely different.

The seating position in the Gran Cabrio Folgore is as low as in its sister model; the batteries are not just on the floor as usual, but are integrated into the structure of the car. Three electric motors take care of the propulsion, 560 kW – or in old currency 761 hp – is delivered to both axles. The maximum speed is probably more than 320 km / h. In fact, a good range of 450 km cannot be maintained at such a speed. The final customer price must be expected to be around 200,000 euros. For customers who are not yet ready to take the plunge into electric mobility, Maserati also offers a 3.0 liter V6 engine in two performance variants with 490 or 550 hp. It comes from the MC 20 sports car, which came on the market in the summer of 2021 and has been causing a sensation ever since.
