Chrysler unveils a new halcyon electric concept car

New Chrysler electric concept car Halcyon is not just driverless car which can be ordered. It is also a space probe operated by augmented reality. Flying from its ski-like aircraft cabin was unveiled during CES 2023, Chrysler’s electricity concept car The Halcyon can dim the glass itself and recline the seats in a reclining position to prepare the driver and passengers for its Stargazing mode. Here, an augmented reality windshield projects information about stars and constellations, turning the Halcyon into a moving observatory.

Chrysler’s The new Halcyon electric concept car also has Level 4 autonomous driving that can predict where the driver is going. With this technology, the driver can command the electric vehicle to return the steering wheel and pedals whenever they feel like driving themselves again. Since the electric car has an AI assistant, Chrysler’s Halcyon can memorize the driver’s location preferences and history with its Memory Landmark feature. As the driver travels, the augmented reality display flashes pins or points of interest that can be selected or shared. Once selected, the electric car can guide itself to the location.

Chrysler’s Halcyon Concept is also preparing for a green energy future, using the upcoming Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer technology, which can wirelessly recharge electric vehicles traveling on special roads equipped with special equipment. Chrysler’s new electric car comes equipped with this, so when the time comes and the roads can charge electric cars while driving in them, the Halcyon is already ahead. If this happens, electric vehicles like Chrysler’s Halcyon can travel indefinitely without needing a charger or a charging cable or station.

lithium-sulphur EV batteries for low carbon emissions

Chrysler’s Halcyon electric concept car also plans to incorporate lithium-sulphur EV batteries, which do not use nickel, cobalt or manganese. This can help reduce up to 60 percent of carbon emissions compared to today’s batteries, as Chrysler claims. Even inside the electric car, Chrysler wants to highlight its environmental advocacy by using laser-pattern Solar White suede, made from 73 percent PET bottles, on the upper seats and door areas. This suede is paired with soft synthetic leather trim around the lower seats, and the seat backs are wrapped in soft Solar White synthetic leather, and 100 percent polyester Mélange Heather fabric for interior accents.

Stepping inside Chrysler’s Halcyon electric concept car, transparency and clarity are immediately apparent with a nearly 360-degree view. The sculpted cockpit is centered around a transparent pillar-to-pillar display for an informative front view while looking down the road, and a 15.6-inch console screen that supports a digital display. This screen can be rotated to a portrait or landscape position, can assist in launching and quickly accessing driving information, and can be fully controlled with voice recognition commands.

Outside of Chrysler’s Halcyon concept, the body of the electric car comes out with a beautiful slope, which the carmaker describes as a strange sculptural style. A narrow LED headlight can be changed and focused on the center and the new Chrysler wing logo with LED lighting, which first debuted on the Chrysler Airflow Concept. The electric windshield extends to the edges of the front end, elongating the cockpit to create a wide, attractive view. Natural silver was chosen for the Halcyon color to give it the appearance of an exterior crafted from reclaimed metals.

The doors may be a surprising feature of Chrysler’s Halcyon concept as the four electric doors swing outwards, the front ones floating towards the front bumper and the passenger doors towards the rear bumper. In this way, a wide entrance for everyone is guaranteed. Even part of the glass canopy folds up for extra ventilation and a wider space when the driver and passengers get into the electric car. The cameras are mounted on thin, blade-like side mirrors to give the Halcyone a slim aero profile, and Chrysler also opts for independent entry, eliminating the need for door handles.
