Long course selection: Erik Riss is the only reserve / Long Course World Championship

The allocation of German starting positions for the singles prize race on the long track has determined who can start in the Challenge in Mühldorf and in the European Grass Track Championships.

The German DMSB has awarded three starting positions for the World Long Track Championships in Mühldorf and five for the European Grass Track Championships. Jörg Tebbe, Max Dilger and Daniel Spiller were nominated for the challenge, where the top five will qualify for the 2025 Grand Prix, with Stephan Katt and Erik Riss as track reserves.

And Dilger, a GP driver from last year was fielded who was injured for a long time and did not receive a wild card for the current season. After the DM was canceled in 2022 due to weather and Herxheim was canceled in 2023 after a bad crash, Dilger is the last German long-distance champion after winning the title in Vechta.

It is surprising that Erik Riss, who has announced his long-term ambitions again since last season, is only the second reserve. The Swabian reached the final in the GP long race in Scheeßel last year and will be there on Father’s Day in Herxheim with a wild card. The two-time world champion was Germany’s top scorer in the last two races of the nations and almost won the title in Herxheim in 2022.

In the European grass championship, Michael Härtel, Mario Niedermeier and the experienced Marcel Dachs will try to reach the final in Tayac (France). In the second semi-final in Loppersum, Holland, Lukas Fienhage and Timo Wachs take the starting positions for Germany.
