The Ferrari 625 F1, dating from 1954, will soon be auctioned on the RM Sotheby’s platform. A very rare copy.

It represents Ferrari excellence. The 625 F1 model from the famous Italian manufacturer, from 1954, will be auctioned on May 11 and 12 by RM Sotheby’s. Currently located in Monaco, its starting price is 2.5 million euros.

It is the “little sister” of the legendary 500 F2, which allowed Alberto Ascari to win the world championship in 1952 and 1953, winning “30 of the 33 races in which it participated”.

“Within a few years, the factory had replaced most of the 500 F2 models with 2.5 liter engines, giving them the name 625 F1 monopostos. As well as being the basis of the Scuderia’s two most successful years, the 500 F2/625 F1 models were the forerunners of four-cylinder sports car – type RM Sotheby’s.

A piece from the “mas du clos” collection.

This example is the fourth of five Starlet 500 F2 examples built, with chassis number 0208F. It is also the first Ferrari run by Ecurie Francorchamps.

British engineer Donald Healey bought it in 1955, before selling it to Ian Sievewright. In 1967, it ended its run in “the “Mas du Clos” collection by Pierre Bardinon, the most prestigious collection ever assembled”. After some restoration, it passed from hand to hand to a collector from Cologne, Germany.

A real understatement for sponsors, who will have the opportunity to revive the memory of motorsport in the 1950s.
