The first Mazda with a cable connection is also the most powerful model in the portfolio. You can read what else the CX-60 has to offer in our daily test.

The Hiroshima-based brand has always made it a priority not to follow every trend. Instead of downsizing, the Japanese developed a six-cylinder diesel, instead of a turbo in gasoline engines, they preferred to make the gasoline engine a spark-ignition engine and maintain a piston-cycle engine.

The sealing system in the CX-60 has four cylinders with 191 hp and a 121 kW electric motor. In total, an impressive system performance of 241 kW or 327 hp is available. An eight-speed automatic powers all-wheel drive. With 500 Newton meters, the plug-in SUV is almost as powerful as a large diesel, although this value is only reached at 4000 rpm.

Actually 67 electric kilometers

This does not harm the temperament at all: Since the electric motor pushes hard almost from the first revolution, you can make a normal sprint to 100 km / h in less than six seconds. In terms of its character, however, the car is not a sprinter. A quiet flight together, with as little pollution as possible, suits him best. With 67 kilometers of electric tests, the car fully met the manufacturer’s specifications listed on the data sheet.

The maximum speed is 200 km / h, and it should run 140 km / h on electricity alone. Only 2.2 liters in combined use has nothing to do with consumption under practical conditions. If you regularly ensure that the 17.8 kWh battery is properly charged, you can get four liters per 100 kilometers in everyday life. If the battery is empty, you should count with eight to nine liters and therefore you prefer to accept two and a half hours at the charging station so that you can drive again with electricity.

Volume up to 1726 liters

The 4.75 meter long two tonne truck is instantly recognizable as belonging to the family. The proportions are the same as the CX-5, with the raised hood typical of Mazda’s current model. It is spacious in the closet. Front passengers have a width of 1.51 meters between the door panels, and 1.45 meters in the second row. The cargo area is accessible through a 73 cm high loading sill, but the 1.80 meter long tailgate lock is not dangerous for those loading it. The trunk holds 570 liters, and the rear seats are folded to 1726 liters.

The luxury five-door is available from 46,150 euros and already offers a respectable level of equipment at this price. In addition to full LED headlights and 18-inch aluminum rims, a navigation system with automatic climate control, lane keeping and lane change assistants are also included, as well as traffic sign recognition, electric seats and hill descent control. The running version of the Homura is about 5600 euros more expensive, which, in addition to 20-inch aluminum wheels, leather upholstery, front and rear seat heating, also has electric steering wheel adjustment and rear footlights.

A sharp monitor on the board

Environmental monitoring and various assistants are highly appreciated, but driver monitoring can also be a double-edged sword. Anyone who has ever been sternly reminded by a vigilante to please keep their eyes on the road can easily imagine that insurers would be very interested in the data collected in the event of a collision. Although the system can be turned off by the user, it restarts every time the ignition is turned back on.

The body can not be said to have the transparency of the model, but the handling has no problems on the road and the steering is sensitive enough. Anyone who rarely uses the capacity of the transport, whether it is occupants or cargo, will sometimes notice when cornering quickly that the car (well defined) likes to have a “light rear end”. Or to put it another way: something like this is unacceptable for a car in this class. With transverse links, it gets very difficult due to the rigid chassis. The intervention threshold of ESP is not so strong that you can do without counter-movements with a clear conscience. However, the car also reacts badly and gives the person behind the wheel the feeling that they have things under control.

The pleasant comfort of the suspension does not decrease even on bumpy roads, the noise insulation is good, so that the comfort of the cabin with pleasant equipment allows the occupants to arrive (almost) stress-free and in good spirits at their destination.
