McLaren wants to challenge Red Bull: “Why?”

The team of McLaren had an unexpectedly strong race in China last weekend. Expectations were low before the weekend, but it happened anyway Lando Norris crossed the line second. Team boss Andrea Stella is very interested and says that it is possible to get Red Bull.

Norris had a great weekend at the Shanghai circuit. On Friday he shone in Sprint Qualifying, keeping a cool head in the rain and grabbing the race pole. The sprint race was disappointing, but in qualifying he was able to repair the damage to some extent. On Sunday he then drove a strong race and managed to put one Red Bull behind him. His second place created a lot of interest.

McLaren team boss Andrea Stella was also proud of the result. The Italian even dares to dream aloud about war with Red Bull Racing. Speaking to the English newspaper The Guardian, Stella explains his expectations: “We have lost a certain amount because we have had great success in the past, while Red Bull did not even continue. That is why we have to look at things in the long term. “and for that long period we are on the way solid. If we can keep this going for the next twelve months, why not get Red Bull.”
