  • GMSV will bring the facelifted 2025 GMC Yukon to Australia, marking their first American SUV to market.
  • The Yukon will be converted to a right-hand drive configuration in Australia, similar to other GMSV models.
  • This move marks GMC’s expansion strategy beyond North America, entering new markets such as China and Australia.

Over the years, American consumers have enjoyed a variety of large SUVs and pickup trucks, a lineup that many other markets, including Australia, have lacked. However, with the demise of Holden in the Australian market, GM has been introducing and selling a range of interesting new vehicles through its Special Vehicles division known as GMSV. The latest addition to the lineup will be the facelifted GMC Yukon.

Thanks to GMSV, we now have our best look yet at the facelifted 2025 GMC Yukon, which is currently testing in Australia under light camouflage ahead of its late 2024 debut.

This marks GMSV’s first import of an SUV from its US range into Australia. It joins the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and Chevrolet Corvette C8, both introduced in the country in recent years. Unlike those models, which arrived in Australia a few years after their US launch, the Yukon debuts with a 2025 model that was teased earlier this week in AT4 form.

Photos released by GMSV show the 2025 GMC Yukon testing in a right-hand drive configuration under wraps. It showcases a sleek front end highlighted by a large chrome grille and distinctive headlights adorned with LED daytime running lights. The camouflage extends to cover the rest of the fascia, front quarter panels, and hood.

Yukon’s 2025 domestic trials are underway. Like the other GMSV versions, it will not be assembled for right-hand drive at the factory but will be rebuilt and converted in Australia. In addition, it will be available for sale in New Zealand.

“The GMC Yukon has been Premoso for a few months as we begin to prepare for the redesign process,” GM Australia and New Zealand managing director Jess Bala said. “It’s great that another vehicle joins the GMSV line-up – which has a full eight-seater and offers excellent towing capacity. Development of the vehicle after the redesign is progressing very well and we are on track to deliver the new model to customers in the first half of 2025 .”

The updated SUV that will lead GMC’s expansion into markets outside of North America including China follows in the footsteps of its updated siblings, the Cadillac Escalade and the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. Apart from the exterior revisions, it will also get a revamped interior with a new center stack dominated by a large infotainment screen with an image orientation with a row of buttons at the bottom.

In the US, the current generation offers two gasoline engines: a 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. Additionally, there is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft. While the two gasoline engines are expected to remain unchanged, similar to the 2025 Tahoe, the turbodiesel will be revised, producing 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque.
