How the Toyota Corolla Cross should put this forgotten Lexus on the map

The Lexus UX 300h is equipped with Toyota’s latest, fifth generation hybrid powertrain. The Toyota Corolla Cross it is the first Toyota model that was powered by this hybrid technology and the new power train is very satisfying.

In Lexus, the modern power train has a system power of 199 hp. The ‘old’ two liter UX 250h cylinder did not exceed 184 hp. Powerful does not mean economical, Lexus says that the UX 300h actually consumes less than its predecessor, i.e. 4.7 to 5.0 l/100 km instead of 5.3 l/100 km (WLTP).

According to Lexus, the new UX has become more powerful and economical thanks to the new battery. The old nickel-metal hydride battery is giving way to the more efficient lithium-ion battery.

Lexus UX (2024) also with 4×4

The updated Lexus UX is also available as a four-wheel drive. Compared to its predecessor, the rear electric motor has become more powerful. The permanent magnet motor produces 41 hp while the induction motor of the UX 250h produces only 7 hp. Lexus promises better throttle response and more driving pleasure. Driving dynamics benefit from high body stiffness, thanks to, among other things, a reinforced tailgate.

Buyers can now choose a new interior color (Ammonium Sand) and a leather-less interior. Additionally, the Lexus UX has become more disruptive. A camera on the steering wheel monitors whether the driver is still awake. If not, the driver will receive a warning and the vehicle will be stopped if necessary. The Lexus UX is optionally available with a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Advanced safety equipment

The extensive safety equipment of the Lexus UX is extended with Safe Exit Assist. This system – which was first introduced on Lexus NX was available – he warns the driver of the cyclists following behind as soon as he wants to open the door. Especially in our cycling country, this system can prevent a lot of trouble. The car also detects pedestrians at low speeds who are not walking on the side of the road but on the side of the road or parked cars.

Prices for the new Lexus UX 300h start at 44,995 euros. That’s less than what the UX 250h was supposed to cost, which is around 48,000 euros. Good news, because the UX 300h is also more powerful and economical. Lexus also promises that its crossover has become quieter and more comfortable. Standard equipment is not reduced. The second equipment level (Urban Line) is also cheaper than the UX 250h. Prices start at 46,995 euros. Extras include a blind spot warning system, an auto-dimming interior mirror, a privacy rearview mirror, a wireless phone charger and safety exit assist, a safety system that offers solutions, especially in the Netherlands. When exiting, it warns of bicycles approaching the car from the blind spot.
