Lamborghini Urus PHEV: From 2024 only with plug

With the Revuelto, Lamborghini has presented its first hybrid model as the successor to the Aventador, followed by the Urus, the second hybrid model – a new drive combination replaces the pure combustion engine in the SUV. Lambo’s then boss Stephan Winkelmann confirmed this to British Autocar. The second generation Urus will be available as an electric car in 2029.

Lamborghini Urus with 800 PS

Winkelmann did not provide any technical data, except that the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is connected to an electric motor. The drivetrain from the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is probably used, which has a system output of 700 hp. The V8 contributes 571 hp, the electric motor 136 hp. The Porsche has a total torque of 870 Nm.

For the Urus PHEV, the performance screw should be turned slightly. The high performance version has up to 800 hp. The current Urus without electric assistance has 666 hp in the S and performance versions. By the way, the successor to the Huracan also receives a Lamborghini-developed V8 PHEV.

The first spy shots show that Lamborghini is not changing the basic layout of the Urus. It retains a roof that slopes sharply towards the rear, angular wheel arches and flared rear fenders. Up front, the Urus PHEV is likely to receive a new apron and differently designed headlights. Then you turn to the Revuelto headlights with star-shaped LED light strips. In the interior there are the usual PHEV displays in the cockpit, otherwise Lamborghini has improved the interior with new upholstery materials and applications.

Lamborghini Urus PHEV was caught by the police

And what did the police do near the Nürburgring? Were the test drivers of the Urus perhaps traveling too fast? No, the reason is very simple. The Italian registration model had a license plate only on the back and none on the front. In Italy, a front license plate is not required on German roads, the car must also have a front license plate. This is regulated by Article 21 Paragraph 1 of the Vehicle Registration Act (FZV). Accordingly, “Foreign vehicles must have a license plate at the back and front. This applies even if the country of registration only requires a license plate at the back. In this case, a corresponding copy must also be placed at the front when used in Germany.” Unfortunately, the violation costs 40 euros, it is not known if the drivers of the test car escaped with a warning.

LM002 of course. The question bothers me a lot.Russia. More modern, more subtle, faster.

Lamborghini will bring the Urus to market in 2024 as a PHEV model with up to 800 hp, the combustion engine model will no longer be available. The Urus as a plug-in hybrid receives a drive train that is known from the Porsche Panamera Turbo SE Hybrid and which is modified by the Italians.
