Ford is recalling the new Escape and Bronco Sport over a fire hazard


Ford not having his best year in terms of recall. After Explorer, Maverick and Focus, some Ford Escape and Bronco Sport they are invited to the garage. In fact, the manufacturer is adding a recall issued in 2022 to 53,653 Escapes and Bronco Sport. As a result, 3,000 2022 Escapes as well as 2022 and 2023 Bronco Sport are added to the inventory to fix an injector problem that could cause a fire.

It should first be clarified that only models with the 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine are affected by the recall. The problem is, moreover, the same as the recall 2022-658 issued by Ford in 2022.

To restore our memories, Ford is adding new vehicles to the previous recall in an effort to correct an issue with fuel injectors on models equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. It can happen, on some cars, that the needle breaks.

If this happens, there may be an oil leak in the engine compartment. Obviously, an oil leak in the engine compartment can increase the risk of fire.

These are the 2,955 Escape (2022) and Bronco Sport (2022 and 2023) that have recently been affected by the condition. It is important to note that the model years listed were not part of the first recall for the same issue.

A simple solution

Ford is also recalling all 42,652 models from the border. In addition, the manufacturer offers the same solution to solve the problem in Canada and the United States.

Ford will notify all affected owners by mail and ask them to make an appointment with their dealer. Once on site, the company’s technicians will update the engine management software so that it can now detect fuel injector leaks. The manufacturer will also install a drain tube to drain the oil if the injector fails.

As in 2022, Ford will offer a 15-year/240,000 km warranty extension to all owners whose vehicles were affected and recalled.
