Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE: now another strong

In addition to the new version of the four-cylinder only to accompany the 4-liter twin-turbo V8, Mercedes-AMG GT The second generation will go to another level by offering the 63 SE PERFORMANCE version. This should arrive on the Canadian market by the end of the year as a 2025 model.

Like all other E PERFORMANCE models from the German manufacturer, it combines a twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric rear motor and F1-derived technology to create a truly impressive hybrid system.

With its 805 horsepower and 1,047 lb-ft of torque in total, there is no other AMG GT before it so explosive: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is accomplished in just 2.8 seconds. Its maximum speed is 320 km / h.

Power is masterfully controlled and distributed by the fully variable 4MATIC+ AMG Performance all-wheel drive system that normally favors the rear axle, while the chassis maintains its balance and agility thanks, among other things, to the AMG Active Ride suspension and active stabilization of the car. roll and rear wheel steering.

A state-of-the-art battery cooled with a special circuit designed by AMG is also part of the equation, inspired by the system used by the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team. Maintaining an ideal temperature of around 45 degrees ensures faster and more efficient energy recovery. With a capacity of 6.1 kWh, the battery can be recharged via a 3.7 kW on-board alternator charger.

Eight different driving modes are offered. In addition to Comfort, Slippery, Sport, Sport+, Race and Personal, the car has an electric mode (the full range has not yet been announced) and another that saves the battery charge. You can select them through the central screen or, even better, the buttons on the steering wheel.

In terms of design, it is mainly the aerodynamics that attracts attention. For example, the carbon fiber panel automatically lowers 4 cm when it reaches a speed of 80 km/h to create a Venturi effect that absorbs the car against the ground and reduces the lift of the front axle. At the rear, a retractable spoiler is used depending on the driving conditions.

Also worth mentioning are the 20-inch aerodynamic wheels in tantalum gray finish as standard. Other 20- and 21-inch wheel designs are among the options, alongside AMG performance seats with integrated headrests that can replace the AMG sports seats.

Pricing for the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE PERFORMANCE will be announced when it goes on sale towards the end of the year.
