CUPRA and one of the most famous football teams in the world, FC Barcelona, ​​​​​​​​​​​​have announced the extension of their partnership agreement for another 5 seasons, until 2029. The Spanish manufacturer remains the Official Car and Mobile Partner of the club, which it means, among other things, that the players will continue to use Barcelona company cars. The brand also extends its commitment to all professional sports of the Barcelona club, including men’s and women’s football, basketball, futsal, handball and hockey.

The official ceremony in which the agreement was signed was attended by the CEO of CUPRA, Wayne Griffiths, and the President of FC Barcelona, ​​Joan Laporta. Players from different parts of the club also participated in the meeting: Robert Lewandowski (men’s first team player), Jana Fernandez (women’s first team player), James Nnaji (football first team player) of the basket), Miquel. Feixas (1st futsal team player), Domen Makuc (1st handball team player) and Matías Pascual (1st roller hockey team player).

Participants had the opportunity to drive the CUPRA DarkRebel demonstration car, which the brand presented at the IAA 2023 in Munich. The car, along with the Raval and Tavascan models, represents the brand’s vision and plans for the future.

More than a partnership

CUPRA started a partnership with the Barcelona club in 2019. As part of the expansion of the partnership, the brand will be one of the official sponsors of the Espai Barça project. The aim of the plan is to replace the club’s sports facilities in Barcelona’s Les Corts district with the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

The manufacturer from Barcelona, ​​in addition to supporting the first football teams – for men and women – as well as the expansion of the partnership, has been the official sponsor of the hockey, futsal, handball and hockey teams until June 2029.

The CUPRA logo will appear on the right arm of the men’s and women’s soccer teams during the 2024-2026 summer tournament, as well as during international friendlies for the next three seasons. CUPRA will also be the main partner of the football academy for the youngest players – Barca Academy.

Since CUPRA entered the market in 2018, 530,000 cars have been sold. CUPRA is an unusual brand that combines emotion, electricity and sports performance, which debuted on the market in 2018 with the Formentor model. Since then, it has become one of the fastest growing car brands in Europe and has successfully mobilized European markets from Barcelona. CUPRA also has a global network of dedicated sales centers – CUPRA Studio.

The Spanish manufacturer proves that electrification and performance are a perfect match, and in 2023 the brand reached sales milestones, delivering more than 250,000 vehicles. Each subsequent premiere is a new step in defining the character of the brand, which is expressed in an ambitious and original design: CUPRA Ateca, a unique vehicle in the compact SUV segment; CUPRA Leon, the first electric model thanks to its hybrid hybrid car; CUPRA Formentor, the first car made entirely by the Spanish manufacturer and to date the brand’s best-selling model; and CUPRA Born, the first 100% electric car from a Catalan factory. In 2023, the second electric model of the brand was shown – CUPRA Tavascan. In 2024, the first electric sports SUV, CUPRA Terramar, will appear on the car market. For its part, the premiere of the most extreme interpretation of the urban electric car, inspired by the CUPRA Raval concept, is scheduled for 2025.

CUPRA is the official automotive and mobile partner of the FC Barcelona soccer team, the main sponsor of the World Padel Tour and the official founder of the eSports Club Finetwork KOI. It is one of the car brands in the world that competes in Formula E. CUPRA Tribe has a team of ambassadors who want to be a force for change. Its members include, among others: Spanish director and film producer JA Bayona, Formula E driver Lucas Di Grassi, street artist TV Boy, Olympic gold medalists Adam Peaty and Saul Craviotto, German goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen and two-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas.
