Subaru and a Japanese car dealer Aisin have agreed on cooperation to develop and produce together eAxle for battery electric vehicles. These will be used to power new electric vehicles that Subaru intends to build from the second half of this decade.

According to Subaru’s press release, the collaboration between the two partners aims to achieve several performance goals, taking into account the environment in which customers use their vehicles. EAxles integrates the main components needed to drive a battery electric vehicle, mainly consisting of a gearbox, motor and inverter, as the Japanese company explains.

Subaru and Aisin have noted that the current automotive supply chain is undergoing major changes, in line with manufacturers’ increasing interest in electrification. Therefore, the two companies will explore the best parts suppliers and production models to match this market situation.

Both Subaru and Aisin they share a common goal of contributing to a zero-carbon society. While Subaru has outlined a roadmap to 2050 and is accelerating plans such as electrification, Aisin aims to achieve a zero carbon society by promoting initiatives in manufacturing and products, with a particular focus on the development of the eAxle, considered a high-priority product.
