In the slippery slope of the electric flag from Mercedes-Benz, EQE enters the E section with the same technology. Does he get full tension from EQS?

This EQE compares to the EQS released last year as E-Class to S-Class. Like the EQS, the E-segmenter does not rely on revolutionary electrical engineering, but above all on better aerodynamics and better battery pack conditions. EQE has a minimum drag coefficient of 0.22. It is still very low, but higher than EQS because it has a long back section. Visually, it is easy to distinguish them from each other, because the electric E-Class does not have an LED belt between the headlights. Additionally, it is a very simple body with small overhangs and a short butt. It looks like the dirt has moved back a little too far. Not the best interaction of company lines. The wheel measures 3.12 meters, making the distance between the wheels 9 inches lower than the EQS and from the bumper to the bumper difference is 26 centimeters. But the distance between the axles is 18 centimeters higher than that of the standard E class, when the height of the total EQE at 4.95 meters is only 2 inches higher.

The same distance between the front and rear trains undoubtedly applies to the battery pack. That has a usable capacity of 90.6 kWh. At the charging station, it is not a full star, but it should get a mark for a slow-moving charging stream. For example, it draws 11 kW as standard on AC poles and 22 kW as an option. In a fast charging station, it reaches 170 kW, so it is not basic. We know from EQS that the battery pack temperature control is good, so that the cells are within the appropriate data range of 20 to 23 degrees Celsius in most weather conditions for regular charging cycles. From 10% to 80% payment status should be completed within 32 minutes.

The EQE delivery plan starts at 76,825 euros with a 350+ rear wheel drive. Its rear-mounted engine produces 292 hp and 530 Nm. The plus sign in the selection indicates the version with the largest array, which according to the WLTP frequency is between 545 and 660 km.

To put EQE in place: EQS with equivalent 90.6 kWh battery and 350 drivetrain costs 91,000 euros, but it comes naturally with air suspension and rear axle steering. The latter is an option on the EQE and will bring prices up to 80 main, making the gap ‘only’ 11,000 euros. It is invincible. Certainly not in a commercial city like Frankfurt where we can get the first show with EQS 350+. Without a large screen ranging from A-pillar to A-pillar on the dashboard, for that reason it is not available in this basic version. But even without that glass panel and three basic screens, it is an elegant experience in EQE. In any case, if the interior is decorated beautifully with leather, wood and a lot of beautiful plastic. The plastic of the ventilation grids feels as if they are protected by plastic strips on the door panels also indicate that the little ones are taken care of. However, the quality experience is more convincing than in the Tesla Model S.

The multi-layered and high-performance MBUX screen can be understood very quickly and has excellent sound control that is only improved through the self-study program as you talk to it more. At the bottom of the intuitive function are the touch buttons on the steering wheel to move to the digital screen behind the wheel, among other things. They work incorrectly. The front seats are legal and have a detailed adjustment to a comfortable seating position. There is no difference in the back seat. Lots of space for legs, but head room is limited. Despite the horn seat to form a few extra inches, and a body height of 1.80 meters, the head touches the headrest. Under the boot cover there is a space of 430 liters of luggage, which is quite common for a car of this size. The E-Class has 540 liters and EQS 610 liters. The front cover cannot open, so there is no frunk. That is also the description of the thin cover in the left front screen, because that is to add water to the front glass.

The 350+ aircraft was fitted with an automatic suspension air for 2118 euros and also with a rear steering wheel up to a maximum of ten degrees, which costs an additional 1573 euros. Such items give the EQS comfort character. Very stable because of the good insulation and rear-mounted drive. There is a difference from the top model, because the shorter wheel and lower weight make it feel more powerful. It weighs 2255 kg and that is 150 kg less than EQS, but it is mainly a four-wheel drive that works best on EQE. It sends better and usually from the back, so you do not know too much about the four-wheel drive. Also, the air suspension theme is sharper than the EQS, making it feel lighter and faster. Although citizens continue to report when hard brakes are needed. The chassis also shows that it has a bit of a problem with low speed and a deep hole cover. The 20-inch wheels have tires with a high load index and a pressure of 3.0 bar, which means that short obstacles cannot be properly absorbed. But overall it is like a rock on the road and has a good balance. Turning in is well considered and clean, when only in the middle of the bend the weight begins to push out. In sports mode and recovery mode in a more dynamic environment, he relies more heavily on gas and is tempted to slide. With the aspen turned off, the system will eventually continue to correct, but you will leave enough space to take your favorite rotation in the middle. This gives you enough freedom to use the EQE as a rear-wheel drive, but not for sports. The steering is numb, but you can give a nice back pressure in the game mode, so that the steering accuracy is the same.

After overcoming this amount of wasted kWh in the Taunus Mountains, we reset the usage meter to zero, because in this class it is about business before pleasure† We then drive to the center of Frankfurt with a strong head wind at a temperature of 7 degrees Celsius. Not ideal for good use of running and a few short whims on an unlimited autobahn also does not help. However he was able to get less than 20.0 kWh per kilometer. This would give him a distance of more than 450 miles.

So EQE follows the right path marked with the Mercedes-Benz flag. There is no dreaded electrical engineering, but a stable brand is well valued for its excellent improvement and therefore a great variety. In many ways this EQE is an EQS lamp and that gives it good tension. This allows him to easily win the electric race with this Mercedes-Benz with the EQ logo on the body without DRS.
