Stellantis erases Milano from the map of Italy with humor!

In a post on his Linkedin network, Jean-Philippe Imparato CEO of Alfa Romeo in Stellantis posted a simple map of Lombardy on a red background early Thursday afternoon.

The problem is that on this map, the capital of Lombardy is no longer Milan but Junior! Jean-Philippe Imparato is a real person and a big boss in the world of cars. He confirms once again through the direct speech that we know from him.

This touch of humor has the ability to lighten things up a bit and put this government thing in its rightful place. With a “sunglasses” emoji, the Italian brand’s busy boss no doubt suggests to Italy’s Industry Minister Adolfo Urso to wipe Milan off the map with a better name: Junior. `

Like nausea for the Minister of Industry

As a reminder, the relevant minister from Meloni’s government caused controversy by recalling this law that prohibits a brand from having the name of an Italian city if the product in question is not made in Italy. In this case, the old Milano is produced in Poland.

It remains to be seen whether the Industry Minister accepts this touch of humor from the Alfa Romeo boss. If so, everything is fine! Otherwise, the relationship between Stellantis and the Italian government will not improve!

The irony behind Alfa Romeo’s press release

As a reminder, in the Alfa Romeo press release announcing this name change, we already felt this touch of humor from Jean-Philippe Imparato, thanking the Italian nation for this “free publicity”.

The bottom line: Stellantis definitely loses a lot of money in communication and ends up with a Junior name that sounds much younger! However, Alfa Romeo released a press release that was cynical and subtle, to say the least, suggesting tension with the Italian government. The brand recalls, in fact, “that in one of the most important weeks for the future of Alfa Romeo, an official of the Italian government announced that the use of the name Milano – chosen by the brand for its new sports compact, only revealed to the public – is against of the law.” The government servant or the relevant minister will be grateful…

A law-abiding name, according to Stellantis

And adding: “In addition to considering that the name Milano meets all legal requirements, and considering the fact that there are more important things, Alfa Romeo has decided to change the name from Milano to Junior, in order to promote stability. and understand each other.

“Thanks to the Italian government for free advertising”

The rest is still an exercise in high flying: “The Alfa Romeo team would like to thank the public for their positive comments, the network of dealers for their support, the journalists for the great media attention given to the new car and the Italian government for the resulting free publicity and this debate. It is not certain that the relationship between Stellantis and the Italian government will be resolved in the future.
