Toto Wolff: “No one will meet Max again” / Formula 1

After Max Verstappen retired in Melbourne due to brake problems, he again shone with his usual power at the Suzuka Circuit. The Dutchman from the Red Bull Racing Team crossed the finish line almost twelve and a half seconds ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez to celebrate his third victory in four races.

Not only did he receive positive words from Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner for his appearance, the race was also full of praise for Verstappen. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff was basically announced as this year’s World Cup champion. He said: “No one is going to meet Max this year. His car is impressive and he drives very well, it’s just a matter of who will be the best of the rest.”

Regarding his own performance, the Viennese explained: “We had a bad first step and we had to analyze why it was like that. But the second and third phases were very good. That’s the positive thing we’re going with. For us, right now it’s about doing a live test. We’re behind, and now we’ve gone in a different direction.”

“But we understand the car better and now we have collected more data that shows us the right direction. Even if the results do not show that. But I am more optimistic because our tests worked – even if this is not reflected in the qualifying results or race results,” added Wolff. George Russell finished the race in seventh place, his teammate Lewis Hamilton finished in ninth place.
