Carlos Sainz: “I would like not to comment on that” / Formula 1

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc had already battled in the Chinese race, and the two Ferrari drivers also battled in the GP. Leclerc, who had complained about his teammate’s driving style the day before, didn’t really want to comment on it and only said: “It’s always difficult with the tires at the start.”

Sainz was also tight-lipped and said in the “Sky Sports F1” Interview: “I would like not to comment on it, but obviously this incident cost us two starting positions. So that was not a help for either of us.”

Sainz crossed the finish line behind Leclerc and finished fifth. He then summarized: “Considering our pace and the event in the first two corners, I don’t think anything more would be possible. After starting it was a matter of getting back to the front. I had to bat very early and work for a long time on a hard pitch, which of course didn’t help either.”

The three-time GP winner said of the competition: “I think McLaren was generally strong this weekend. In all cases they were faster in qualifying and in the race. I think there will be a stretch where we will be ahead again. We just have to look from track to track and wait for an update that will hopefully give us more performance.
