Mike Krack: Lance Stroll is underrated

Lance Stroll has done well alongside Sebastian Vettel, according to Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack. According to Krack, Stroll is often underestimated as a driver and is not only in the seat of Aston Martin because of father Lawrence Stroll.

After becoming Formula 3 champion in 2016, Stroll made his Formula 1 debut with the Williams team in 2017. In 2019, the Canadian will switch to Racing Point, now Aston Martin, as a replacement for Esteban Ocon. Father Lawrence Stroll became the owner of Racing Point in 2018, which quickly led to the conclusion that Lance Stroll was brought to the team for that reason alone.

Walking against Vettel

Current team boss Mike Krack believes Stroll can hold his own alongside four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. In 2021 Vettel finished above Stroll in the standings, but the difference was only nine points. However, since the main rules changed at the start of the current season, the team has struggled to compete for points. Aston Martin is currently ninth in the Constructors’ Championship with 25 points, while Stroll has scored just five.

In surprise

Mike Krack disputes that Stroll only drives in Formula 1 because of his father. “People underestimate how good Lance is [Stroll] it is. “You don’t do well against a four-time world champion by accident and you don’t win a lot of junior championships by accident,” said Krack. System 1. From next season, Fernando Alonso will complete the Aston Martin line-up with Lance Stroll and the Canadian will once again have many champions at his side. “There is great respect between the drivers and Fernando [Alonso] he knows Lance’s qualities,” says Krack. According to the team boss, people say that Stroll has no place next to Alonso, but according to Krack he can only surprise a few people.
