MINI wants to teach Americans to drive with an automatic gearbox. It will be interesting

The British brand is introducing mechanical set-up and shipping to its American range, which will be something new to many local customers.

It has long been known that slot machines rule there. That’s why MINI wants to teach Americans to drive with a manual gearbox. In Europe, it may be considered a silly joke, but there is no reason to laugh abroad.

The fact that this is a serious matter is confirmed by the MINI Driving School, which will take place at the BMW Performance Center in California. The manufacturer claims that for many it will be time well spent that will bear fruit on the road.

The course should be divided into two stages: a theoretical part, i.e. learning as a lesson, and a practical part, which will focus on using the car in real situations.

Americans will learn to drive with the clutch pedal. This will be new to many. Instructors will focus on learning to start properly, accelerate and climb.

It looks like a typical driving school in Poland. Let us remember, however, that the United States is a completely different world. For half a century, direct transmission has been widely used there, which in our country is now beginning to influence a large number of customers.

What is the reason for using such gears? Well, it is possible that this is a “whim” of the brand that should build its identity. Another concept concerns the lack of features. Either way, Americans will once again be able to buy a MINI with a manual gearbox.
