A Missouri man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for soliciting child pornography from an 11-year-old.
The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, Jeff Jensen, announced that 43-year-old Mark A. Anderson of Joplin, Missouri, was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison for soliciting child pornography from an 11-year-old. Anderson had previously pled guilty to two counts of attempted enticement of a minor.
According to court documents, Anderson attempted to solicit pornographic images and videos from an 11-year-old minor in exchange for cash payments. Anderson used a messaging application to send suggestive messages to the minor and asked her to send him nude photos and videos. Anderson also requested the minor to send him live videos of herself engaging in sexual activities. Anderson offered to pay the minor for her services.
The minor’s parent discovered Anderson’s messages and reported them to law enforcement. Anderson was arrested in March 2019 and charged with two counts of attempted enticement of a minor.
At sentencing, Anderson was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison term and to register as a sex offender. Anderson will also be subject to various restrictions, such as not having contact with minors and not having access to the internet.
“This case is a stark reminder that predators lurk on the internet, and we must remain vigilant in protecting our children from exploitation,” Jensen said. “My office is committed to prosecuting anyone who seeks to victimize children for their own sexual gratification.”
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Joplin Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nhan D. Nguyen prosecuted the case on behalf of the U.S. government.
