The Mobility Centre, with three Volvo dealerships in Rotterdam, Barendrecht and Vlaardingen, will open a new ‘handover centre’ in January. This delivery center for new Volvos and Polestars will be located in Vlaardingen. Ronald Reinink, director of operations at the dealership, confirms this to AM.

“The reason is the large number of new cars that will be released early next year. These are late deliveries, which have been delayed due to corona and the lack of chips. In our three businesses we do not have the space or ability to deliver all those cars properly,” says Reinink. But we are building a transfer center for a long time. Polestar is a brand that is sold online and now we can present the cars in a clean way, taking into account the needs of the customers. Volvos are still largely ordered from dealerships, but they are also struggling to sell more online.

Reinink hopes that Lynk&Co will also use the new facility in Vlaardingen. “We carry the brand and currently the cars are only delivered from Diemen. Lynk&Co has been successful so we think more delivery centers will help.

The delivery center is being built on the foundations of the existing shell. The Mobility Center can provide five vehicles per day for each employee. The maximum capacity will be five thousand cars per year. “So we can still move forward,” says Reinink.

Polestar currently has one delivery center in the Netherlands, in Beesd.
