Some car companies (ahem, Mercedes!) call their sports station wagons drag brakes, but we all know what this term usually means for three-door estates. Like coupes should only have two doors.

Do you remember the golden days of motoring when real shooting brakes were very common? Many automakers released a few models for this body style at the time, including Chevrolet and its popular Nomad, which has been given a new lease of life.

But why virtual? Because it is only available in the Land of Dreams. Wb.artist20 shared this rendering on social media recently, which shows a modern concept vs. Chevy Nomad using the brand’s dead muscle car. So, you can call it the Camaro Shooting Brake, if you like, although the 2025 Nomad looks better to us.

The pixel controller gave it a long muscular design that curves slightly towards the back. Digital renderings show it with a wide body kit that includes flared wheel arches and fat side skirts. The model also has a sports apron, a muscular hood, a five-fin diffuser with a cutout for quad exhaust tips, a generous rear wing, and a few other special touches.

The entire face shows its true origins, as it was lifted directly from the suspended Camaro, and the tails are also the same. The brand’s bowtie logo is featured in black at both ends, and we can also see the Nomad logo below the right taillight and the ZL1 badge on the opposite side, suggesting that it will hide the sharp tubes under the hood.

Yes, that will be GM’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8. In the final Camaro ZL1, the bump produced 650 horsepower (659 ps/485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and puts 650 pound-feet (881 Nm) of torque under the driver’s right foot, with peak thrust available at 3,600 rpm.

Although the big Hellcats from Dodge were more powerful, and so was the Ford S550 Mustang Shelby GT500, the Camaro ZL1 held a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts of all ages, some of whom are still crying about General Motors pulling the plug. on the Camaro in late 2023.

No one knows the future of this nameplate, with the car giant saying that it will return eventually without giving specifics. The logical step would be to apply this moniker to a new muscle car, preferably with ICE and EV power, back to the latest Dodge Charger series. At this point, we just hope that Chevrolet doesn’t use the Camaro name on some kind of crossover, or if it does, they should at least give the world another new muscle car.
