Miller on the Acosta comparison: “You have to train Pilates” / MotoGP

Red Bull KTM legend Jack Miller speaks candidly about the impressive performance of new MotoGP rider Pedro Acosta and analyzes the Spanish rider’s style.

Jack Miller (29) finished fifth in last weekend’s MotoGP race. However, after an electric start, the Red Bull KTM star had to be behind rookie Pedro Acosta (19) and teammate Brad Binder (28). The great performance of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull-Tech3-GASGAS) also left a big impression on Pokerface Miller.

The four-time MotoGP winner speaks openly and gratefully about the young Spaniard. “Pedro drove amazingly. I really had no chance. Brad and I got close and went far, to the edge. He took advantage.” Miller also admits: “Pedro then dropped the hammer when it was over. Brad and I tried to follow him. He looked really good on the bike.”

But Miller tasted blood: “We’re going back to Texas now. With Austin, Jerez and Le Mans now there are a few really good tracks for me. If we understand the bike better and realize my needs, it can be better. I think I did well in Portugal.”

Miller’s comments about the riding style of his young GASGAS teammate are especially true: “He’s not on a bike – he’s actually very close to a motorcycle. He touches the ground almost everywhere. Sometimes it looks like his head is touching the ground, his style is impressive, especially when you ride behind him. I can only wish I could ride a bike like that – maybe I have a little “style”. He can move the bike where he wants. We have a great bike – we have improved the KTM a lot in the last twelve months – Pedro has now made the most of it. Now we have to use him as a target and see what he does differently. I am 29 years old, but I can still learn in every session.”

The Aussie continued with the current style of MotoGP: “Just look at Jorge and Pedro – they use their whole body in a very favorable position. If you compare my style from 2016 to today, you will also see that my movements have also changed a bit – but maybe not enough. It just has to I should go home and do Pilates (laughs).”

The diary of “Thriller Miller” shows that the KTM rider is very serious about his information. Together with his good friend Marcel Schrötter, intense CrossFit sessions were organized in Spain during Easter week.
