The Swedish manufacturer, a branch of Volvo, is updating its Polestar 2 with all-new engines that offer more power and improved ranges.
The sports and electric branch of Volvo, Polestar is currently not well known in our area. It must be said that the manufacturer was blocked by DS Automobile for vague stories of copying the logo.
But an agreement was reached with Polestar will debut in France soon, with this new “2”.
Instead of a superficial facelift that undermines the integrity of the original design – the Polestar 2 gets a powerful hardware upgrade. New motors, rear wheel drive, more variety. And smart location from Polestar 3.

Many changes are taking place body colored grillewhich is now called SmartZone and which integrates multiple ADAS. Finally, new rims are also there and, that’s it.
In the passenger compartment, nothing changes, except introductory phone charger. Finally, all versions benefit from advanced ADAS.
Changes are above all at the level of motors and batteries. Like Volvo XC40 and C40 recently updated, The Polestar 2 is clearly revolutionary at this level.
The base Polestar 2 goes from impressive to propulsion received a new permanent magnet motor from 299 hp and 490 Nm. This represents a nice increase of 68 hp and 160 Nm compared to the outgoing front-wheel drive model. 0 to 100 km/h is now completed in 6.1 seconds (-1.2 seconds)
Optionally, this model can be purchased with new 82 kWh CATL battery or, at the entry level, with a 69 kWh LG battery. So equipped, they show respectively 635 and 518 kilometers of WLTP autonomy.
4WD AWD variants get the same motor at the back and add a new asynchronous motor at the front that completely disconnects when not needed. This is it 422 hp and 740 Nm combined which is released (+ 13 hp and 80 Nm), making it possible to perform 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
In terms of charging, the smaller battery models house a 135 kW DC charger while the larger battery models have 205 kW.
For those who want more power, it will be necessary to turn to the optional Performance Package. The latter increases power to 476 hp and improves 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.
This package adds Brembo brakes, 20-inch rims and Öhlins Dual Flow Valve reduction.
Joakim Rydholm, Head of Chassis Development at Polestar, said the facelifted Polestar 2 is “an even more playful and agile car, retaining its grip and full sense of control, while becoming more mature and with increased comfort”. However, nothing is said about chassis modifications.
Polestar 2 (2024) is already available in many European markets. Prices start at €50,190 for the entry-level RWD model and goes up to €64,690 for the more powerful. French prices should be the same.
For 2024, the Polestar 2 is being given a major update featuring a facelift, new engine, bigger battery, better range, faster charging, more performance, and for the first time in a Polestar, rear-wheel drive in one-off versions of cars. https://t.co/0J0Zr2P33L pic.twitter.com/0NKjUAWwDs
