One of the men who died in a mass shooting in Gisborne last weekend will be buried in Waikato on Sunday.

Two were killed and three injured during clashes at a 21st birthday party on Lytton Road.

Chrysler Stevens-Mark’s whānau posted on social media that he was at Evans Funeral Home in Gisborne on Thursday, where a service was planned at 2pm for his friends “and the wider community who would like to pay their respects”.

“Then the whaanau will take our boy home to the whaanau’s compound where he will sleep for two days.”

That would be reserved for whaanau and close friends, they said.

Several tributes have been paid to Kane Taare-Grey online.

Stevens-Mark would then “make his final journey home” to Te Iti O Haua Marae in the Waikato, where he will spend the night before being buried on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the tank of the second person who died in the fight, Kane Taare-Grey, was underway in Uawa Tolaga Bay.

Police have filed serious assault charges against two men – a 25-year-old and a 29-year-old. But no one has yet been charged in the deaths.

Three people were hospitalized after the brawl, but only one remained on Thursday and was in good condition, Te Whatu Ora said.
