Despite Sam Bird they haven’t won Diriyah’s EP, but there is reason to celebrate. After a tough season last season with the Jaguars, third place in the Arab race meant he was on the podium for the first time since New York eP in 2021, when he won. After the race, the 36-year-old driver did not hide his joy at the new achievement.
“It feels really good to be back on the podium. It’s been a tough 12 months, but Jaguar have been amazing. They sat by my side, hugged me and also recently we had problems in Mexico in the opening of the season”, he highlighted before going on stage.
“It took a lot of work, several sleepless nights for everyone in the team to get here. This is a small victory for us. I know Porsche won tonight, but for us, where we come from, it’s amazing. Congratulations to everyone in the team, and we will continue to strive”, he said .

The pilot of Jaguar gave his opinion about the leadership crisis and Pascal Wehrlein and praised the Porsche driver. In addition, he saw the good behavior of the German team and assessed that there is still work to be done with his team for eP Diriyah 2, which takes place at 2 at night this Saturday (28).
“I was trying to position my car in a way that would make it difficult for Pascal. I know the grip we had on the track was difficult, but he did a great job. The Porsche looks very good when changing direction at low speed. We have ‘homework’ to do tonight,” he concluded.
Action in Saudi Arabia continues this Saturday, with the second race also at 2pm. This time, eP will have streaming Band – on open TV – and BandSports, and broadcasts BIG PRIZES.
