Need too little? Mercedes will probably discontinue the EQC in 2023

The first electric car from Mercedes-Benz was the EQC, a large SUV that was still based on a combustion engine platform. Production began in May 2019 and Mercedes introduced the “electric era” live with The Weeknd.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC will soon be discontinued

EQC was presented at IAA 2018, but it was delayed and was presented only in autumn instead of spring 2019. And at the beginning of 2020 it was clear: This will not be a best seller. EQC requirements were often modest.

In autumn 2021, Mercedes made several improvements, but it must also be said that the EQC was not a good electric car and, especially these days, it is no longer. According to Business Insider, the end is already 2023.

The final tests will be released in May 2023, after which EQC will be phased out. Alternative? It is not planned that anyone who wants to buy an electric SUV from Mercedes will have to go one step higher, the EQE will soon be available as an SUV.

The new image of Mercedes-Benz

But it fits the new look of Mercedes-Benz, which focuses more on luxury. The EQE SUV offers more luxury and at the same time is based on a better electric platform, the EQC is no longer relevant in the portfolio.

Mercedes didn’t want to confirm that yet, but it would fit well with the current strategy. After four years, a facelift with modern technology will be necessary, but that is no longer the case with the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
