Subaru, agreement with Aisin for the development of eAxle for electric vehicles

Subaru takes further steps forward in its electricity distribution project. Indeed, the automaker announced agreement with Aisin to jointly develop and share eAxle production dedicated to use on electric models. To create them, the two companies will leverage their expertise in vehicle development and transportation.

The new powertrains that Subaru and Aisin will develop will find their place inside new BEV vehicles which the car manufacturer will start producing from the second half of the decade. Subaru explains:

This joint development, based on the concept of high efficiency, lightness and compactness, aims to achieve various performance aspects that take into account the environment in which customers will use their vehicles. In addition, the two companies will evaluate component suppliers and study the best production plans, considering the maintenance and development of the existing supply chain, which is undergoing significant changes as the electrification of vehicles continues.

Unfortunately, no other details of the agreement were disclosed. So we don’t know anything about the technical specifications of the new eAxles that these two companies will design and produce. Perhaps, more details will arrive as the debut of the new electric cars approaches.

However, this is an interesting novel for the car manufacturer. We remember a while ago, Subaru had announced another important agreement for its power transmission project. In fact, Subaru had communicated that it had reached an agreement with Panasonic for the distribution of batteries with cylindrical cells. Accumulations that it will spend on its next-generation next-generation vehicles that it will produce in the second half of the decade.
