Aston Martin unveils a new high-performance SUV, the DBX707. He relies on the powerful performance of a four-liter V8 with 707 hp.
The name says it all: the new one pushes itself with 707 hp Aston-Martin DBX707 in the performance of Olympus of SUVs and offers a greater hp of 157 more than the standard model. Production will begin in the first quarter of 2022.
900 Newton meters of torque
The starting point for the performance variant is a four-liter biturbo V8 supplied by AMG, which Aston Martin has literally given a power tuning. Among other things, with new turbochargers, with rubber, a detailed modification of the engine control and the exhaust with a new pipe, not only is the performance greatly increased, but the torque is also increased by 200 to 900 Newton meters compared to the standard DBX.
Driving performance is the same: 3.3 seconds from standstill to 100 km/h and 160 km/h in just 7.4 seconds. The funny end is more than 300 points, DBX707 has been confirmed by Aston Martin top speed of 310 km / h. The fact that the new Aston’s power is officially accompanied is also due to its low weight. With an unladen weight of 2,245 kg, it leaves the two-tonne mark behind, but other competitors with an equally fun engine, such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk or the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupé, weigh a few hundred kg more. . Speaking of kilos: If you want to go between transporters with 707 hp, the data sheet has a towing capacity of 2,700 kilos.
New engine, new gearbox
The driving environment has also been changed for the completely enhanced V8, mainly due to the significantly increased torque. A nine-speed automatic with a wet clutch known from the AMG GT4 is used as the transmission, the axle differentials have been replaced by stiffened and shorter units (3.07 instead of 3.27:1). The air suspension and steering have been restored to the DBX707 and the selectable drive programs have been expanded. This also includes a Launch controller christened “Start Race”.
Improvements were also made to the braking system. The Aston Martin DBX707 comes standard with carbon-ceramic brake discs (front 420mm, rear 390mm), which are held by six-piston calipers. That saves over ten kilograms of unladen weight per wheel, which is no small amount. 22-inch wheels are fitted as standard, and 23-inch wheels are available as an option.
Visually, the Aston Martin DBX707 can be recognized by the large intake of cooling air on the apron, which also sacrifices the characteristic of the light units/daytime indicators. Narrow light strips are now attached to the apron instead of the circular lights of the standard DBX. At the rear, a roof wing with additional spoiler lip hints at the power therapy, the enlarged rear diffuser is adorned with a new four-pipe exhaust system in matt black.
As standard, the 16-way adjustable sports seats offer very little fluff: comfort seats can be ordered at no extra charge. Some special control units have been added to the interior especially for the DBX707. The DBX707 has a revised lower console and new switches for selecting climbing modes. These include dedicated buttons for chassis mode, ESP, manual gear selection mode and an active exhaust system switch, which opens the valves of the new four-pipe sports exhaust system without the Sport driving mode to be irritated.
Aston Martin DBX707 launch and price
The base price of the Aston Martin DBX707 is 238,500 euros. However, this is a guarantee that no customer would expect, because the customization options are endless, as is typical of the brand. There are 58 different paint colors to choose from, and almost every detail can be configured, from the color of the taillights to the color of the seat belts (there are six to choose from), the carpets (eleven types) and the design. of pieces of seat pipes. Speaking of seats: there is a choice of 38 colors for leather. So no DBX707 will probably be the same as another. Aston Martin wants to start production of the DBX707 in the first quarter of 2022, and the “Alpha SUV” (O-Ton Aston Martin) will be available to customers from the second quarter.
A lot. I’m happy about every SUV with sports car genes.
Nothing at all. Sports car builders should build sports cars.
Aston Martin is raising the bar in the high-performance SUV segment with the DBX707. Although the DBX707 is not the most powerful production SUV, according to Aston Martin it is said to be the “fastest, most powerful, handiest and most attractive car of its kind”. You may be curious about it.
