In the summer of 2020, a new era began for Aston Martin: DBX, the first SUV of the British luxury manufacturer, was released from the factory in St. Athan, Wales. Almost two years later, a new top model, the DBX707 (see video), followed, which in the future will be the only one to fly the SUV flag at Aston Martin. The base DBX V8 version with 550 hp will be canceled without replacement. To this end, the 707 received a facelift, which primarily affected the interior and chassis.

Aston Martin is completely redesigning the interior of its SUV model, which is offered in three lines “Inspire Comfort”, “Inspire Sport” and “Accelerate” led by Alcantara artificial leather. The steering wheel, metal door handles and vertical air vents now look different than before. The horizontal line divides the dashboard into upper and lower, and at the same time simplifies the central console. The materials used are a combination of chrome, leather and engineered wood veneers. Alternatively, inserts made of shiny titanium fabric, piano black lacquer or visible carbon are available for the new DBX707.

Control units specific to the DBX707 will remain unchanged even after a model update. These include special buttons for driving modes and suspension, ESP, manual gear selection mode and an active exhaust system switch, which opens the valves of the four-pipe sports exhaust system without driving mode. Infotainment

Aston Martin is switching from an infotainment system based on Mercedes technology to the facelifted DBX707 interior system. Its heart is two screens. A 12.3-inch display sits behind the steering wheel as a digital instrument cluster, while a central 10.25-inch touchscreen is integrated into the dashboard and center console. Apple smartphones can be connected wirelessly via CarPlay, while other mobile devices can be connected via the various USB-C sockets.

The infotainment system is connected as standard to the interior sound system with 800 watts of high power and 14 speakers. The new sound system from Bowers & Wilkins, adapted specifically for the Aston Martin interior DBX707, is available as an option. 23 loudspeakers of different types and a subwoofer together produce up to 1,600 watts and, according to the manufacturer, provide “balanced and accurate” ambient sound.

Design

Changes here are kept within manageable limits. Deep changes can be seen only in the door handles and exterior mirrors. There are also new exterior colors: Epsilon Black (black) and Helios Yellow (yellow) are complemented by four new shades of green: Sprint Green, Malachite Green, Aura Green and Podium Green (green), and the last color was originally designed for DBX707 AMR23 version available. There are also new finishes in the individual wheel range program.

Visually, the Aston Martin DBX707 can still be recognized by the large cooling air intake on the apron compared to the previous standard V8. Instead of light units / daylight cycle indicators, thin strips of light are attached to the apron. At the rear, a roof wing with additional spoiler lip hints at added strength. The extended rear diffuser is adorned with a four-pipe exhaust system in matt black.

Driving and performance

The basis of the Aston Martin DBX707 engine remains the four-liter biturbo V8 supplied by AMG, for which Aston Martin provided power modifications. With other ball-bearing turbochargers, a comprehensive reorganization of the engine control and exhaust with differently positioned lights, among other things, not only the performance increased significantly to 707 hp. Torque also increases by 200 to 900 Newton meters compared to the standard DBX, which is no longer available.

Performance is the same: 3.1 seconds from standstill to 100 km / h, top speed of 310 km / h. The fact that the new Aston’s power is officially accompanied is also thanks to its low weight. With a weight of 2,245 kg, it leaves the two-tonne mark behind, but remains below the values ​​of other similarly powerful competitors.

Chassis, brakes, wheels

Aston Martin revised the hydraulics and electronically controlled air springs as part of the facelift. The chassis should now respond faster and more accurately. Otherwise, known features remain. The Aston Martin DBX707 continues to have carbon ceramic brake discs as standard (420 mm front, 390 mm rear), which are held by six-piston calipers. This saves more than ten kilograms of unsprung mass per wheel; that is not small. 22-inch wheels are fitted as standard, 23-inch wheels are available as an option.

Market launch and pricing

Production of the refreshed Aston Martin DBX707 will begin in the second quarter of 2024; The first delivery is scheduled for a short time later. Aston Martin has yet to comment on those prices. The base price of the pre-facelift DBX707 was 238,500 euros when it was launched in Germany in the spring of 2022. However, this is a theoretical value, because as usual for the brand, the customization options are endless – especially thanks to the in-house tailoring department “Service Q”.
