Contents
Here are two new exclusive products from the Bavarian brand: BMW 5 Series Saloon (G60) – BMW i5 with electric motor. All will enter the market in October 2023. The new generation, like all previous generations, will be produced at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing, where electric motors and high-voltage batteries for the BMW i5 are also produced.
Check out previous generations of the BMW 5 Series in the gallery below.
BMW 5 Series Sedan – Specifications
The combustion variant has grown significantly compared to its predecessor and now measures 506 cm. Compared to the previous model, its length has increased by 97 mm, width by 32 mm to 1900 mm and height by 36 mm to 1515 mm. The wheelbase has increased by 20 mm to 2,995 mm.
The new BMW 5 Series – appearance
The LED elements, arranged almost vertically, act as indicators and daytime running lights. The kidney grille, which is pushed further forward, has a wide contour and optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting.
Eye-catching elements from the side include black door sills, hidden door handles and the embossed number 5 at the base of the C-pillar. The flat rear lights are separated by a chrome strip – an interpretation of the classic BMW L shape.
The dynamic character of the new fifth can be further emphasized with the optional M Sport package and the M Sport Pro package. From the start of sales, the exterior color range will include three BMW Individual colors.
BMW 5 Series Sedan (G60) – Interior
The interior, on the other hand, looks very familiar, as many elements are familiar from the new 7 Series, such as the glass moldings that hide the mood lights. The main place, as in every new BMW, is occupied by two large screens with a diagonal of 12.3 and 14.9 inches, but they have new programs and we operate them using a refreshed menu – now it should be brighter. Compared to the previous model, the dashboard of the new BMW 5 Series has very few buttons and controls.
The interior of the new 5 Series can be finished with a variety of quality materials, but for the first time it will also be possible to order a vegan interior. This includes the upholstery of the seats, dashboard and door panels, as well as the steering wheel for the first time.
Also new is a steering wheel with a flattened bottom and control panels that now offer tactile feedback and a gear stick on the center console.

BMW 5 Series Limousine – Parking Games
In the new model, you can expect the new BMW Operating System 8.5, which offers a wide range of digital content for information and entertainment, shorter cycles for updating features, better information about charging points for electric vehicles and better access to many online services . Video streaming on the control display is also possible, as is the use of games in the car – thanks to the AirConsole platform. Drivers and passengers can play so-called casual games while the car is stationary, for example when charging the BMW i5.

BMW 5 Series Sedan (G60) – engine
The biggest surprise may be the engine lineup of the new 5-series, which includes only two 2.0-liter engines – gasoline and diesel, both with less than 200 hp. The most powerful variants can be found only on the electric i5 – with a choice of 340 and 601 hp. Two plug-in hybrids and a six-cylinder diesel will join them next year, along with another electric variant.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive – the most powerful model
It will be a top model BMW i5 M60 xDrive, which combines the standard performance 442 kW (601 hp)* engine with the design elements of the M. Two highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axles form an electric all-wheel drive system. System torque of up to 820 Nm (with M Launch Control or M Sport Boost activated) accelerates the BMW i5 M60 xDrive from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h / h.
In addition, the BMW i5 eDrive40 will also be available. Its electric motor drives the rear wheels and produces a maximum power of 250 kW (340 hp) and a maximum torque of up to 430 Nm with Sport Boost or Launch Control. The BMW i5 eDrive40 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and has a top speed of 193 km/h.
The high-voltage space-saving battery is located on the floor and provides 81.2 kWh of usable energy. The long range is due not only to the efficient electric motors, but also to the latest version of the efficient heat recovery and the intelligent combination of the heat pump for interior heating and cooling, the car and the battery of high-voltage. WLTP values are 455–516 km for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive and 477–582 km for the BMW i5 eDrive40. The new MAX RANGE function allows you to increase the range by up to 25 percent by reducing power and speed and turning off the comfort functions.
BMW i5 M60 xDrive – premium
The Integrated Charging Unit (CCU) in the BMW i5 enables AC charging up to 11 kW as standard and up to 22 kW as an option. Direct current can be charged up to 205 kW, which allows the battery in the BMW i5 to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
