Citroen showed a new SUV coupe. His name is Basalt

Coupé SUVs are slowly starting to appear in the offerings of popular car manufacturers. After Renault, Citroën is now trying its hand in this segment and offers a brand new model – Basalt.

Citroën Basalt – it’s like the C3X Coupé

At the moment, the manufacturer has presented this car in the Vision version, that is, almost a production version, but not quite yet. The car is a completely new model, but structurally it is impossible to surprise, because it was built on the CMP / eCMP platform, and visually it resembles a hybrid of Citroën C4x and C3 in the Indian version. And it is no coincidence that it brings to mind the Indian version, because it is a car intended for India and South America.

Citroën Basalt – the name means to convey durability

You can see that it is prepared for poor roads, for example due to the high ground clearance and large tire profile. Moreover, it is designed off-road, with large wheel arches and large bumpers. Furthermore, its name taken from a rock should bring to mind durability.

And while it looks like a big car, given the platform it’s built on and the slightly surprising numbers at the back, it’s unlikely to be too big. This can be guessed at the moment, because the details have not been revealed. However, you can already be sure that the famous 1.2 PureTech engine will be placed under the hood, and only the power of this engine remains a secret.

It is also unclear what will happen to the electric version, but considering the markets where this model is being prepared, it is not clear if the installation of an electric car is planned at all.

Citroën Basalt – available in the second half of 2024.

The car will be launched in the market in the second half of 2024 and is aimed at young people and families. What about Europe? Nothing is known about it yet, although if it were to be built, it would be the basis of the European e-C3 and perhaps in an electric version. However, the manufacturer is silent on this topic.
