Dodge sold the new Viper in the first quarter! Have we missed something?

While the first quarter of 2024 is already behind us, the time has come for different groups and manufacturers to present their results for the first 3 months of the year. The ones from Stellantis did not fail to impress us, especially the Dodge ones. The American brand has actually sold a new Viper! Selling a single model isn’t a good idea, unless it’s supposed to be out of production since 2017. Has production of this monstrous device been restarted?

The career of the Dodge Viper was not a smooth ride. Not that the car was bad, far from it! But we must realize that in practical terms, we have seen better. Of course, the Viper was very difficult to use on a daily basis, because of the poor fuel consumption, but also because this demonic machine was always trying to kill its driver.

Launched for the first time in 1992, it deserved 4 generations in a row until 2010. That year, Dodge decided to discontinue the model, before finally relaunching production in 2013 with the fifth and final generation, which died in 2017. Currently, the sixth generation is not on the agenda. But then, how can we explain that Dodge sold a new model in the first quarter of 2024, 7 years after the model was taken off the list?

We almost believed…

Seeing the name Viper appear on the Dodge results pages was enough to give fans of the model hope. Unfortunately, the details are not very pleasant. Despite calming everyone’s enthusiasm, the American brand has not restarted production of its supercar. In fact, it was only one model that has not been sold since 2017. For 7 years, Dodge has continued to sell its stock little by little. Two Vipers were signed last year, four in 2021.

We can only understand the constant excitement surrounding this iconic model. Because despite its appearance as the most brutal car, the Dodge Viper had a good engine, 8.4 V10 horsepower of 649 for the latest generation. Noble, sure, but also very wild, for the driver had to constantly control the arrival of riders on the rear wheels alone with a 6-speed gearbox. Still, it’s good to know that Dodge may still have a few new models of its legendary Viper on hand.
