New Limburg Hyundai dealer – De Limburger

Wassink Autogroep has become the new Hyundai dealer for Limburg since this month. The company has taken over Welling’s Hyundai operations in Heerlen. The Hekkert Hyundai branches in Venlo and Roermond are now also part of Wassink.

The company announces this on its website. This makes Wassink Autogroep the Hyundai dealer for the whole of Limburg. The acquisition of Wassink is not the only change in Limburg’s car companies. It was previously announced that the Mengelers family business has taken over the Mazda and Suzuki brands from Welling. The Mazda brand in Sittard will move to the current Mengelers building in Bergerweg. The Mazda Heerlen brand will be integrated into the Suzuki Heerlen building at Breukerweg 174 in Heerlen.

Also changes at Autobedrijf Coumans in Geleen, dealer of Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep. The company will be transferred to Hekkert Autogroep on 1 February. Owner Peter Coumans explains why this move was chosen. “FCA (the parent company of Fiat and Alfa Romeo ed.) National sales figures dropped from 40,000 new cars in 2010 to 6,000 cars in 2019. In 2016, the company stopped using the Lancia brand completely. Over the years, Alfa Romeo’s model range has dropped from eight models to three and at Fiat, only the Fiat 500 and Panda are crowd pleasers. In 2020, FCA merged with PSA, brands Peugeot, Citroën and Opel. The company continued under the name Stellantis. As a result of the corona crisis, chip shortages and delivery problems, manufacturers had to review their distribution network and change the agent model, among other things, “says Coumans.

To ensure employment within the family business, Coumans chose to join forces with Hekkert Autogroep. “It’s the only right choice for our company and team,” says Peter Coumans.
