the new top of the range?

the new top of the range?

The Audi RS e-tron GT is entitled to a minor modification, just after the release of its cousin from Porsche. Will it be fast and powerful?

While the Porsche Taycan had the right to a facelift including a new power version, the cousin with the Ring also has the right to do it. Indeed, Audi’s electric sedan is also getting a slight facelift for the coming years. It’s enough to stay in the game and doesn’t look too old-fashioned next to the one it shares everything with… Except the logo!

The Audi e-tron GT follows in the footsteps of the Taycan

And this minor overhaul also sees a new version arrive. Audi has revealed the RS E-Tron GT Performance. It gets the “Performance” suffix in the same way the Taycan earned the “GT”.
So, it’s the new top of the range German electric sedan. And above all, this allows Audi to harmonize its nomenclature. Indeed, a few months ago, the ring company revealed the “Performance” models of the RS6 Avant and RS7. Obviously, there is leadership to respect.
So the Audi won’t be as sharp as the Zuffenhausen sedan. But the brand still offers an increase in power. So it will have more horsepower than the 637 (598 without Overboost) it had until now. At the moment, no exact details have been revealed.
But the teaser image was revealed to have a hidden copy. This hides the carbon-ceramic brakes behind its aerodynamic rims. As for the rest of the details, we can only speculate, although the Taycan range already gives us an idea of the modifications.

More power, but how much?

Historically, in the Volkswagen group, there is leadership. So the Audi RS e-tron GT Performance may not be as powerful as the best Porsche Taycan. We also don’t think it will match the 952 horsepower of the Taycan Turbo S. Nor the 1108 horsepower of the Turbo GT.
On the other hand, its power can push the 770 horsepower of the old Turbo S version of the Porsche sedan. We also know that Audi engineers did not limit themselves to increasing power. Battery capacity would also be improved to increase autonomy.
As a reminder, the new Taycan receives a 98.6 kWh battery in the “Performance Battery Plus” version, while the base model receives a battery with a net capacity of 83.6 kWh.
So the future RS e-tron GT Performance should be found between the two. In addition to the ability, The maximum charging power would also be improved. Audi would certainly change the suspension and chassis settings to improve the character of its sports sedan.

To find out more, you will have to wait a few more months. But we can be sure that the whole range will be fixed. Including versions placed under RS Performance and RS in the catalog. So, stay alert!
