Probably also for the Netherlands
Subaru will launch its new Impreza in two weeks, so it’s already giving us a dark picture of the world. It indicates that in any case there will be another hatchback, which most likely will also be available in the Netherlands.
The Subaru Impreza is already in its sixth generation and will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in two weeks. So the US is the most important sales market for the brand. For the Impreza, all five previous generations were available in the Netherlands. We hope to be able to host this sixth one here as well, despite the brand’s low sales numbers.
Expect styling cues like the upcoming CrossTrek, sharply sculpted headlamps and illuminated lighting units inside. After all, the Subaru XV, the predecessor of the CrossTrek, also had important similarities with the original Impreza. We say past and not now, because the fifth-generation Impreza quietly disappeared from the price list a while ago. It came on the market here in 2017 and received a facelift in 2019, but apparently couldn’t put the car on sale here until 2022. The latter was sold in 2020 bringing the total number of fifth-generation Imprezas sold in the Netherlands to 57 units.
The sixth-generation Subaru Impreza – like the CrossTrek – is expected to go on sale next year in the US in both sedan and hatchback guises. In Europe we expect a hatchback, which will probably have a later introduction than the American market model. We will know more in two weeks.
