New electric models from Dodge and Ram to see first in Montreal

The Montreal Electric Vehicle Show (SVEM) is fast approaching. From April 19 to 21 at the Olympic Stadium, visitors will discover more than 60 models representing 23 car brands, not counting the approximately 80 cars available for testing.

Among the new products that will attract the most attention, two from the Stellantis group will be seen for the first time at the show in Quebec. We deliver to you!

Dodge Charger Daytona SRT 2024

Production news release Dodge Charger was unveiled on March 5. It is similar to the Charger Daytona SRT concept that appeared on the cover of Car Guide 2024. It is exactly this that will be shown at SVEM.

The company mentions a total of nine power possibilities. Using a 400 volt electric system, the basic electric motor produces 340 kW (456 hp), alternatively 370 kW (496 hp) with the eStage 1 package and 400 kW (536 hp) with the optional eStage 2 package starting at 440 kW (590 hp), then rises to 470 kW (630 hp) with the eStage 1 package and 500 kW (670 hp) with the eStage 2 package A special key fits on the dashboard to “unlock” the extra power. A final performance model called the Banshee, again with three power levels but an 800-volt electrical system, will follow in 2025.

Moreover, the maximum charging power will reach 183 kW and the charging time from 5 to 80% will take 32.5 minutes using the fast charging station, we are promised.

Dodge, which wants nothing to do with the launch of a boring electric car, has also equipped its new Charger with an external audio device called Fratzonic that recreates the exhaust system whose roar can reach 126 decibels, the same as the V8 Hellcat. Will it be enough to convince Dodge fans? We will see.

Production of the two-door electric models will begin this summer at the Windsor, Ontario assembly plant. A four-door Charger will follow in early 2025.

Ram 1500 Ramcharger 2025

Far from Ram 1500 REV Completely electric, the new Ram lineup for 2025 includes a second electric model that differs from its combustion engine as a generator to extend the range.

Indeed, Ram 1500 Ramcharger 2025 it uses two electric motors with a total power of 663 horsepower and draws energy from a 92 kWh battery. Before running out of power, it can be recharged by a 3.6-liter V6 specially tuned for this application. There’s no mechanical connection between this engine and the wheels, so the Ramcharger isn’t a plug-in hybrid strictly speaking even though it burns gasoline.

The company promises a total distance of 1,110 km. Plugging the truck into a DC fast charger is therefore optional, but those who do can expect to generate up to 145 kW, enough to restore a range of 80 km in 10 minutes, according to Ram.

In addition, be aware that the stored energy can be used not only to move the truck, but also to restore another vehicle or strengthen the house in the event of a breakdown, for example, through a two-way payment system. The electric panel in the body provides up to 7.2 kW of power.

There’s also acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds, a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, tops in the category, and a payload in the body of 2,625 pounds. Interested?

The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger should go on sale in Canada early next year — offering several trims ranging from Tradesman to Tungsten to Big Horn to Limited — and we’re betting demand will be strong.
