DS 7 Crossback becomes DS 7. How does the new SUV differ from its predecessor? Comparing | French.pl

The DS 7 Crossback was the first car for which the DS Automobiles brand was fully responsible. The compact SUV has received a facelift. First of all, we will mention the model name change for DS 7, but this is not the only new thing. What is the difference between the new model and its predecessor?

The DS 7 Crossback debuted in 2017 and after almost five years on the market, the DS Automobiles brand decided to facelift. We especially expected a model reference DS 4but the stylists decided to draw a little more inspiration from the concept cars of the French manufacturer. When we look at DS 7we can see the influence of the 2020 DS Aero Sport Lounge studio designs and DS X E-Tense from 2019. The headlights are the most visible novel, the rest of the changes are details and cosmetics, but it is important to say that the DS Automobiles brand is known for making every detail with great care.

DS 7 has character, but let’s forget about bright colors

The DS 7 received new DS Pixel LED Vision 3.0 headlights combined with DS LIGHT VEIL daytime running lights. The thin, broken line of DS 7 Crossback headlights was replaced by five light strips with 33 LEDs. DS Automobiles insists that the headlights require a special production process. Laser cut elements made of polycarbonate are covered with varnish inside, which allows us to see the light and color of the body. According to the brand, this is to create a deep and shining effect of jewelry.

The technology does not work with all body colors, which is why DS Automobiles has removed the red and orange versions of its SUV from the range. To prepare customers for this move, colors were also lost from the range of the previous facelift model. The DS 7 color palette is limited to six options. Customers can choose from: two shades of gray, black, navy blue, pearl white and pearl (Lacquered Grey, Platinum Grey, Nera Black, Sapphire Blue, Pearl White, and Crystal Pearl).

DS Automobiles has redesigned the trunk lid and slightly accentuated the look of the taillights and scale motif by removing the chrome frame and adding a black, metallic finish. The strip connecting the headlights changed color to black and the manufacturer’s name appeared instead of the Crossback logo. Exterior changes also include a new range of rims ranging from 18 to 21 inches.

The new DS Iris multimedia system

At first glance, the interior is the same as its predecessor, even the gear lever remains the same, although many models of the Stellantis group now have the right to choose a smaller, simpler one. Suffice it to say that Peugeot added a new selector to the 208 in 2008 without unnecessary ado, so we’re surprised that the DS Automobiles brand hasn’t tried to replace it. The 12-inch screen also remained the same, but the interface was improved, the navigation map was expanded and the DS Iris multimedia system, which we already know from DS 4, was installed from the upholstery palette. It was replaced by pearl gray upholstery. Some new decorations have also been added to the cabin.

DS 7 gets more power – 360 HP

The DS Automobiles brand has dropped the 180 HP PureTech petrol engine. The car uses a 130 HP diesel engine and hybrid systems with 225 and 300 HP, familiar from the DS 7 Crossback. A new feature is a 360-horsepower 4×4 powered vehicle Peugeot 508 PSE and DS 9. The most powerful version has a wheel track widened by 24 mm at the front and 10 mm at the back, a chassis lowered by 15 mm and front brakes with a diameter of 380 mm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds.

DS Automobiles will begin taking orders for the DS 7 in the summer, with the first units hitting showrooms in September 2022.
