News: The Jeep Avenger is now also available as an e-Hybrid

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid’s powertrain consists of a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with 74 kW (100 hp) and 205 Nm of torque. The combustion engine is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch e-DCT6 automatic transmission. A 21 kW and 55 Nm electric motor is integrated in the transmission, together with the main transmission module and the inverter, which together form a compact whole. The electric car is powered by a 48V battery.

In electric mode, which operates at a speed of up to 30 km / h, the Avenger e-Hybrid can drive up to one kilometer entirely on electricity. To save fuel, the gasoline engine shuts off when the accelerator pedal is released and when driving downhill. Thanks to Belt Start Generator Support, the drivetrain promises a seamless and particularly quiet transition between the combustion engine and the electric motor. The electric motor improves torque at low speeds and ensures a quiet and quick start. Electric power is also important for the electronic crawl function, which allows a series of short forward movements without the influence of the accelerator pedal, which is useful in situations such as traffic jams (e-queueing). Avenger e-Hybrid can also be parked 100% electrically (e-parking).

The electric motor of the MHEV system not only supports the gasoline engine, but also works as a generator to charge the 48V battery during braking and coasting. Thanks to this self-charging technology, the Avenger e-Hybrid does not need to be charged at a charging point.

Usage and performance

Under normal driving conditions, the electric powertrain is designed for efficient fuel consumption, resulting in a CO2 reduction of up to 15% compared to a combustion engine with automatic transmission. The use of the Miller circuit reduces CO2 emissions even further, resulting in an estimated CO2 emission of 111 to 114 grams per km, which corresponds to an average fuel consumption of 5.1 l/100 km. The fuel tank has a capacity of 44 liters. Thanks in part to the electric assistance, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes about 11 seconds.

Revision for model year 2024

At the same time as the introduction of the Avenger e-Hybrid, Jeep is introducing various improvements for the Avenger. The Jeep Compact is available with a new Open-Air Sky Roof. Also new (and optional) is an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with a massage function and leather upholstery.

The Avenger e-Hybrid can be identified by its special badge. In the interior, the driver looks at the e-Hybrid’s 7-inch cluster with MHEV information such as driving mode, engine status feedback and power meter reading. A 10.25-inch e-Hybrid cluster is available as an option. In addition, the model has shift paddles to determine the shift points of the dual-clutch automatic transmission.

To make driving even more fun, Jeep is introducing two new connectivity packages: Connect ONE and Connect PLUS. Connect ONE offers additional driver assistance and safety systems, while Connect PLUS features additional connectivity, focused primarily on navigation. The infotainment system also provides over-the-air program updates, current traffic information, weather updates, location of fuel stations (and fuel prices) and an overview of available parking spaces in the city. Thanks to the voice assistant, giving orders is much easier.

Three versions

Jeep limits the model range to three versions (Longitude, Altitude and Summit). The Longitudo has, among other things, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED lights and door handles in body color, complemented by gray skid plates. The interior features a black dashboard and seats with fabric upholstery, a 7-inch full digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch central screen, cruise control and a front armrest.

Safety equipment comes standard with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Assist, Hill Descent Control, Selec-Terrain, rear parking sensors and an electric parking brake. Longitude also offers services such as a telematics box for online services. Exclusive to the 100% electric Avenger are automatic air conditioning, Keyless Go and a Mode 3 charging cable.

The Altitude Edition looks solid with 17-inch alloy wheels and silver skid plates. The interior features high seats with fabric/vinyl upholstery, a height-adjustable loading floor and a silver colored dashboard with inserts. The steering wheel is covered with synthetic leather. Additional features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and cruise control complete the Elevation.

The third and most advanced version of the Summit is equipped as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED projection lights, LED taillights and privacy glass. In the interior, multi-colour ambient lighting is prominent, as is the electronic ‘frameless’ rear-view mirror. This version is more complete with features like keyless entry and push button start/stop, wireless smartphone charger, blind spot monitoring, 180 degree reversing camera with ‘drone view’, 360 degree parking assist , automatic high beams, electric. folding exterior mirrors and electric tailgate.

Jeep Avenger with 1.2 petrol engine (without MHEV technology) is available in Longitude and Altitude variants.
