Recently, we wrote to you about a certain article that will go to auction and fetch an alarming sum. Mainly because the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R was one of those that played in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Meanwhile, a similar fate awaits all R34s. As of May 1, this car turned 25 years old. And this means that a large market has opened for it – the USA. Until now, this car was not legal there.
Nissan Skyline R34 illegal? What is this about?
American regulations are quite liberal when it comes to car construction. America’s many hot rods and projects can cause a heart attack even for our investigative experts, accustomed to indolence and flexibility.
But a car from another market? Serial at all? Well, such things are illegal and generally come from outside the country of freedom and civil liberties. A car from a foreign market cannot be registered in the United States without a complete procedure for legalization, homologation, etc. It is long and expensive. And if something is not completed, the car can be lost. It will be taken and destroyed.
And this is the real fate of the Japanese car. Nissan Skyline R34, although it played in many movies (eg in “Fast and Furious”), could not be registered in the United States without special permits and modifications. Otherwise, it could be part of a collection like “Show and Show” – that is, it could not move on the road.

And now he can, because he is 25 years old. And any car over 25 years old can be registered in the US without any problem.
Prices will go up a lot
There’s no chance it wouldn’t be. Already, good parts of the Skyline R34 cannot be bought for less than 100,000. zlotysand we’re not talking about the more desirable GT-R variant at all. American filters and collectors will immediately jump on them, which will make the car even harder to find.
Well, unless… you invest in a “real GT-R”.
how is it
Well, the first pieces “released” will be regular coupes or sedans. Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R was produced since January 1999. And that means the first Skyline GT-Rs will go up in the new year. And so until August 2027, when the last copies will reach a quarter of a century. Furthermore, because it will be a short time before the ban on the sale of internal combustion vehicles (at least in some states), this is the last time to buy this car at a price … let’s say a normal price.
Let’s hope for more records. I’m sure it will be more expensive than the Supra MkIV.
